Every year, people are wrongfully accused of committing sexual offenses. From prison to problems in someone's professional life, sex crime charges can have severe consequences. In Dallas, Texas, people who are in this position should do everything they can to try and have the truth come out in court. Although this can be difficult, especially with an aggressive prosecution and the negative stigma associated with these types of charges, no one deserves to have their life ruined over a crime they never committed.
A 38-year-old sheriff's deputy is facing second second-degree criminal sexual conduct charges after a former inmate claimed that she had intercourse with him in 2006. The deputy is accused of having consensual sex with the woman two times.
The deputy had been working for the sheriff's department for 12 years and was placed on unpaid leave after the allegations surfaced. According to a special prosecutor, an investigation into the alleged sex crime could potentially ensnare other law enforcement officials and lead to additional accusations.
When someone is accused of sexual misconduct, they may experience a number of problems, such as damage to reputation, job loss and issues in their personal life. Even if someone is facing false accusations and found innocent of the charges, they may experience setbacks that will affect them throughout their life. As a result, anyone who is going through this firsthand and wants to ensure that they put their best foot forward in court may want to reach out to a knowledgeable legal professional.
